The WTE™ system is renewable, sustainable and closed-loop. The WTE™ system uses a patented 3-stage combustion technology resulting in clean combustion, and is the most efficient method yet proposed for biomass-fired power plants. WTE™ power plants use whole trees instead of chips to produce electricity, resulting in nearly 10 times more efficiency than using corn to produce power from ethanol. Entire trees are dried on-site, removing 70% of moisture, causing more complete wood combustion and increased energy output. Remaining ash from the process is collected, processed and returned to the tree growing fields to be used as a slow release fertilizer. There is a net benefit in sequestering carbon dioxide because all of the carbon in the tree comes from the atmosphere and approximately 20% of the biomass remains in the roots to build the soil. Because of the system’s efficiency and use of “waste” energy and resources, the system is carbon-neutral.
